  20. AmigaDOS For Beginners is now copyright FREEWARE 
  21.  
  22. The reason for this is that it is now out of date as it does not cover
  23. the latest version of AmigaDOS (v3.5) and I have no intention of updating
  24. it at this stage or in the foreseeable future.
  25.  
  26. I never thought I would reach this stage but I feel that the Amiga has well
  27. and truly "missed the boat" and is too far behind other computer technology
  28. to be realistically usable in the ever changing world of computers and the
  29. internet.
  30.  
  31. Maybe one day the present owners will change all this but I cannot afford
  32. to wait and see and I am not willing to spend any more time or money on my
  33. Amiga until the unbelievable happens and a new Amiga emerges that can
  34. really compete with modern computers.

  36. So, in the meantime, use it freely for non-profit purposes and enjoy!

  42. This is a set of Amigaguide documents containing (approximately):-

  46.    50 Example AmigaDOS scripts

  48. There is about 1.12 megabyte of data so a HARD DRIVE will be required.
  49.  
  50. It is aimed at the beginner in AmigaDOS but can also be used by more
  51. experienced AmigaDOS users as a reference.
  52.  
  53. The articles and glossary are heavily cross referenced making it easy
  54. to jump from the article to an explanation of terminology or to another
  55. article for further information.

  57. This Aminet release (Demo Version) has a lot of the articles ENCRYPTED.
  58.  
  59. Those paying the SHAREWARE fee will receive instructions for accessing
  60. the encrypted parts.

  73. What "AMIGADOS For Beginners" is NOT:-

  76. It is NOT a replacement for the AmigaDOS manual.

  78. While every AmigaDOS command is covered, "AmigaDOS For Beginners" is not
  79. intended to be a full and definitive description of the format or template
  80. of all these commands. If you want that sort of thing then read the
  81. AmigaDOS manual.

  83. What "AmigaDOS For Beginners" IS:-
  84. ----------------------------------

  86. What "AmigaDOS For Beginners" DOES attempt to do is to provide the beginner
  87. with an introduction to the use of AmigaDOS by providing information and
  88. examples of the AmigaDOS commands and techniques in a way that takes the
  89. user through various instructions and functions and their main options
  90. without getting too tied up in their format or template.
  91.  
  92. In my experience, most beginners cannot quickly understand the formats or
  93. templates given in texts about AmigaDOS. By following through these notes,
  94. it is hoped that the beginner can become familiar with the main options of
  95. most instructions and functions without needing to worry about formats and
  96. templates.
  97.  
  98. So... whereas I may not always give you the FULL story about an AmigaDOS
  99. command all in the one article I WILL attempt to cover it all by the time
  100. you have read through to the last article. However, if you want the full
  101. story all at once, all you need to do is double click on the highlighted
  102. references to follow through to later articles and read the whole story.
